Whether it was the Roman god Hercules who

Filippo Berio, a man passionate about his family, his business
and olive oil, began producing and selling the finest olive
oil in the 1850s. Highly regarded as an expert, he personally

whom he built the FILIPPO BERIO brand and product to exacting
In 1919, Filippo Berios granddaughter Albertina Berio and Giovanni
Silvestrini entered into a partnership with other growers and
producers in Lucca including Dino Fontana, grandfather and great-grandfather
of the current FILIPPO BERIO Olive Oil producers. Together they
formed a new company: SALOV, or the Societa per Azoni Lucchese
Olii e Vini (Society for Oils and Wines of the Province of Lucca).
Today SALOV is still 100% Italian owned and managed and its
success is attributed to product quality and expertise. Its
headquarters are in Lucca, a town internationally acclaimed
for its excellence in olive oil production.
